A warm welcome awaits you in the beautiful surroundings of Argyll’s only ancient castle. Built in 1609 by “Black” Duncan Campbell and restored in 1897 by Sir Duncan Campbell 3rd Brnt of Barcaldine, Barcaldine Castle offers something truly beautiful.
A Scottish castle set on the shores of Loch Creran with breathtaking views, from the snow-capped mountains of Glencoe in early Spring to the golden colours of Autumn. Barcaldine Castle (also called the Black Castle) is a 17thcentury tower house castle located at Barcaldine 9 miles north of Oban, Scotland. The ghost of Sir Duncan Campbell is said to have been spotted roaming Barcaldine searching for the man who murdered him.
The glorious Barcaldine Castle can be your perfect setting for birthdays, anniversaries or simply getting together family and friends. Barcaldine Castle in Scotland is one of the most luxurious exclusive use venues in Scotland. It offers six luxury en-suite bedrooms located on the second and third floors (either six doubles or five doubles and a twin). On the first floor, we have the Great Hall and the Laird’s Parlour, both with grand, open fires, which will roar away during the winter months. Winter walks in Argyll can be a delight. Each morning we will serve you a fantastic, locally sourced breakfast in the sumptuous surroundings of the Great Hall. Enjoy a dram from our growing whiskey collection or a drink from the bar. Wines can be paired by our chef from our wine list to ensure a perfect evening ahead for all.
